The purpose of this position is to calculate accurate labor and material cost estimates and ensure that product line pricing supports achievement of corporate product line profitability targets. In addition, the position evaluates and loads labor routings for manufacturing, establishes proper time standards on production runs, and updates standard estimating rates for accurate costing information.

  • Determine actual and full scope of work by review customer specifications, all Requests for Quote (RFQ) documents and any data provided by the Application Engineer that impacts a cost estimate.
  • Work closely with the Application Engineer, as needed, to ensure the quote matches the
  • Determine if any accessories will be required and if they are, ensure that all connections and designs accommodate the accessories.
  • Work closely with the Applications Engineer to ensure accurate costs are provided for the accessories, to include labor for installation, if assembly is required.
  • Perform ASME Code calculations to determine estimating parameters, such as, shell, head and nozzle thicknesses.
  • Determine and select material items and configurations that most cost effectively meet fabrication requirements.
  • Utilize established company estimating policies, procedures and programs to prepare estimates.
  • Through interaction with vendors, prepare accurate material cost estimates.
  • Through interaction with manufacturing and the use of IPF Division manufacturing standards, expeditiously prepare accurate labor cost estimates.
  • Maintain ongoing evaluation of the standard labor routings and adjust, as needed, to reflect the manufacturing process.
  • Evaluate process improvements and cost reductions.
  • Continuously research and study to develop and maintain knowledge of all IPF Division filtration products and commonly used accessories.
  • Become familiar with all industry codes and standards that are applicable to our products and ensure that cost estimates maintain compliance with those mandatory regulations and standards

  • Experience in similar industry, preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office software, and current ERP system, preferred.
  • Knowledge of ASME Section VIII Division 1 and ASME B31.3 codes, pressure vessel fabrication, welding procedures, materials and other related industry codes and standards.
  • Knowledge of welding, cutting, machining, painting and general fabrication practices.
  • Good communication and mathematical skills.
  • Team-oriented, attention to detail and well-organized.
  • Ability to analyze and apply technical specifications and industry standards to accurately determine requirements.
  • Ability to determine or select product configurations that meet design requirements yet minimize costs.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as product line profitability targets, work instructions, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
