The Test System Integrator ensures that all test systems in the Division including OEM, Aftermarket, and the Engineering Test Lab operate safely, employ ergonomics, maximize productivity, minimize downtime, use the latest test equipment technologies and are correctly sized in order to provide optimum value and high quality results for HSD customers.

Position Summary:
This position requires an individual capable of working with minimal supervision.  Responsible to guide technical evaluations, analysis, and related data acquisition processes to help define Division Test System objectives and ensure those objectives are achieved.  Develops, modifies, applies, and maintains quality standards for Test Systems and Test Processes by writing Test System statements of work. Adheres to all relative contractual and regulatory requirements (FAA, JAA, CAAC, Military).  Leads members from key functional areas internal and/or external to the Division to meet objectives

May have indirect or matrix responsibility to guide the technical work of a team to achieve project milestones. Has regular and frequent internal interface to present project status; may be the primary contact with customer/suppliers for projects requiring coordination.

Essential Functions:
 

Ability to work on multiple tasks in parallel with high customer visibility.

  • Very high degree of organizational skills and the ability to move from task to task with minimal interruption to work progress.
  • Ability to read and work from Test Procedures, Hydraulic Schematics, and engineering drawings.
  • Ability to work from customer specifications and industry standards to create Statements of Work, Acceptance Test Procedures, Test Instructions and Test System Build Requirements.
  • Determines Test System objectives and standards by studying product characteristics, HSD requirements, customer requirements, government regulations, EHS requirements and conferring with Test Operators, Operations Leaders and HSD engineers.
  • Investigates test verification and validation problems related to equipment and/or processes.  May resolve testing problems by recommending modifications to procedures.  Confers with project engineers on revisions to test objectives, methods, and standards.
  • Plans, coordinates, and facilitates Acceptance tests by training and directing Testers, Engineering Technicians and Maintenance personnel on new or update test systems.  Provides parameters for sample testing and specifies tests to be performed.
  • Documents test results using appropriate test equipment, data analysis tools, software and other engineering tools. 
  • May assist in the design of information systems and create / maintain Statistical Process Controls.
  • Reports test outcomes by collecting, analyzing, interpreting, summarizing, and displaying data.
  • Recommends changes for Test Systems based on current standards and updates/maintains those standards. 
  • Uses Project Management tools to create and maintain the Test System project schedule.  Reports progress and obstacles effectively with Management.
  • Identifies Test System design changes.  Devises tests and methods to establish the root cause of problems; holds Test System design reviews; analyzes and evaluates test data and characterizes Test System performance.
  • Capable of performing system troubleshooting using Parker problem-solving tools such as 10-step, A3, Pareto, Is-Is Not, 5-Why, Fishbone diagrams, etc.
  • Knowledge of various types of standard Test System instrumentation and data acquisition systems used for collecting Pressure, Flow, Rotational Speed, Current, Voltage, Temperature and other data.
  • Researches the latest Test System component and control technologies and incorporates these into HSD Test Systems.
  • Able to evaluate and make decisions based on cost vs. benefit to the overall business.
  • Knowledge of aerospace hydraulic, pumps, actuators, motors, and valves; internal components and their effect on the overall performance of the product.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Acts as member of the TEst SysTem Integration Team (TEST-IT) and helps the team determine project worthiness, priority, and resources.  Also works to improve the Test System Integration Process with lessons learned.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor of Science degree (BS) in Engineering. Equivalent military training or hydraulic test experience beneficial. Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the job typically acquired through six or more years of related experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Thorough knowledge of state-of-the-art hydraulic test systems and test equipment, procedures, theories, principles and concepts and general business operations.
  • Knowledge of aerospace industry or similar industry products and legal and regulatory requirements related to field. 
  • Ability to effectively assess and implement continuous improvement techniques to verify and validate test system operation. 
  • Ability to use standard business applications software and/or specialized data analysis tools. 
  • Ability to work on a variety of problems of diverse scope and complexity where analysis and evaluation of various outcomes require tradeoffs and negotiation. 
  • Ability to solve a wide range of difficult problems in imaginative and practical ways and evaluate alternative solutions that may require coordination across multiple teams. 
  • Ability to establish goals and objectives to complete projects. 
  • Ability to routinely apply project management skills and to effectively use project scheduling computer software programs. 
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical journals, policies and recommend changes to procedures. 
  • Ability to effectively communicate and present information to team members, team leaders, and top management. 
  • Ability to respond to significant inquiries or complaints from internal and external customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. 
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to effectively demonstrate team member competencies and participate in goal setting, performance feedback, and self-development activities.

Computer Skills

  • Experienced in MS Word, Excel, Enovia, Power BI, LabVIEW and MS Project.
  • Programming experience
  • CATIA or AutoCAD

Additional qualities must include a “can do” attitude and an individual that can work multiple tasks simultaneously.  The individual must be a motivated self-starter with a willingness to do “whatever it takes” to complete the assigned task.  This individual must be willing to accept responsibility to meet accelerated project schedules and stringent test system requirements.
