Essential Functions- Identifies opportunities for product improvements and cost out through evaluation of manufacturing practices and assembly methods. Utilizes CAD software to develop product improvements. Performs cost analyses to justify changes, and coordinates activities of multiple disciplines to implement the changes. - Performs root cause analysis on defective products using engineering principles and knowledge of manufacturing processes. Determine root cause using statistical methods (e.g., Design of Experiments (DOE), SPC). Modifies existing products to resolve quality problems, and coordinates activities of multiple disciplines to implement a solution. - Modifies existing products and creates new products for new applications. Utilizes knowledge of systems and works directly with OEM’s to determine product performance requirements. Leads team members of product development projects, and justifies monetary resources and personnel to attain project goals. - Defines product performance standards and product acceptance standards using knowledge of systems and laboratory testing equipment and procedures. Determines disposition of non-conforming material using engineering judgment and knowledge. - Concept development and functional requirements generation - System architecture, design and development of systems for a wide range of applications - Firmware development to enable control, communications & test - Component and hardware selection for motion control systems, microcontrollers, power conversion, PWM Drives, etc. - Schematic development ,PCB architecture - Development of electrical manufacturing documentation as needed - Interacting with our team and clients to deliver superior product solutions - Work with team to provide System, Design, and Process Failure mode analysis - Assisting with product validation and production launch - Legacy product support The essential functions have been provided as examples of the type of work performed by employees assigned to this job classification. QualificationsB.S. in Engineering or Engineering Technology and 3-5 years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. Good math skills, and familiarity with personal computer and CAD software required. Must possess strong mechanical aptitude, ability to use basic measuring tools, and hands-on capabilities to work on projects without supervision. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Lotus Notes preferred. Prefer lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, project management, FMEA, and quality systems experience. - While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and hear and is regularly required to speak. The employee must occasionally stand and walk. Specific vision requirements include close vision, and the ability to focus. - This position is exposed to moving equipment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. This position requires occasional travel. - Professional experience in a product development environment - Proven track record of EE design in a multidisciplinary, team-based environment with ability to effectively envision and communicate concepts. - Hands-on experience using analytical methods as well as prototyping as a problem solving tool. - Test and debug skills using common lab equipment - Proficiency with EE CAD software - Thorough understanding of manufacturing processes and creating electrical engineering documentation. - Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to thoughtfully articulate and present technical ideas. - Experience with UL, CE, certification processes. - Experience with J1939 / CAN - Experience Functional Safety - Experienced firmware developer with proficiency in SIL2 Coding; TI, Microchip, Freescale Platform; Controller Area Network (CAN bus); Application Programming
