  • Provide broad perspective and strategic direction and delegation in managing engineering teams and resources to align with the Division’s business plan and mission. Identify future markets and define the technology roadmap used across programs and business units. Leverages systems, product and process technologies to create differentiated competitive advantage.
  • Provide leadership and direction on product development and research activities and the introduction of new technology; lead the team and expert staff in interpreting complex technical requirements, associated risk, and completing technical studies and design reviews.
  • Provide leadership to ensure the successful completion of critical stages of multiple projects/programs in coordination with division leadership and program management. Involved in high-level strategy decisions and implementation plans.
  • Has influential customer contacts on significant technical issues and business opportunities. Is instrumental in attracting and obtaining new business by promoting Parker technical capabilities.
  • Direct and guide the implementation and coordination of processes and programs (e.g. structured design process) for multiple functional areas (e.g. including cross-functions such as operations/production or supply chain) and/or business units.
  • Broad budget and accountability for technical and engineering systems investments. Accountable for full budget planning and cost management with significant impact on division engineering costs and that may include engineering systems and multiple facilities. Consults with division leadership on long-range plans to meet both current and anticipated growth and resource challenges (e.g. workforce planning; new technology system investments).
  • Assess and determine effective workforce plans to meet business and engineering demand (e.g. outsourcing vs. development of internal resources); review and approve exceptions and consolidated plans and advises on other human resources activities (e.g. staffing, training, compensation).

  • Bachelor’s degree (BS) (or Professional Engineer (PE) Certificate) in engineering or a science technical discipline; Master’s degree (MS or MBA) preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the job typically acquired through 15 or more years of related experience. Prior management-level leadership of multiple teams of 6 years.
  • Comprehensive understanding of varied products, systems, and technologies represented by the Division or Group. Proven track record of introducing new-to-market technology and/or product commercialization. Ability to apply and integrate knowledge of other related engineering areas or experts.
  • Ability to recognize, quantify, and effectively communicate the business impact of innovative solutions and value creation (e.g. potential profit, risks, and business impact of engineering investments and programs).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead the research and integration of new technologies.
  • Influences organizational and business strategy, priorities, and functional objectives at all leadership levels. Effectively delegates and empowers leaders and teams.
  • Pursues and advocates innovation and involvement from the larger technical community.
  • Mitigate risks associated with the loss of intellectual property by communicating and implementing appropriate controls and/or manages regulatory compliance.
  • Create and monitor development plans and assignments to build leadership and engineering technical pipeline.
  • Thorough knowledge of competitor and industry practices, government regulations, and internal policies.
  • Recognized as an influential business partner. Has strong facilitation skills and ability to communicate effectively to varied audiences to gain support or resolve issues. Makes effective presentations on complex or sensitive topics to top management, customers, and/or other key stakeholders.
  • Effective speaker and presenter; serves as a spokesperson or in a liaison role with universities and other research institutions and industry associations. Ability to respond to significant inquiries from customers, regulatory agencies, or other internal teams.
