We have an opportunity for a Chemical Engineer with expertise in material science to join our team in Lee’s Summit. As a chemical engineer with us, you will work with a team of top engineers, scientists and technicians to create innovations, streamline and troubleshoot existing processes and ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations. We are looking for candidates with a strong drive for knowledge and improvement, who are always striving to make improvements. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this role will provide the opportunity for you to make a positive impact very quickly.

• Drive technological innovation by creating and implementing goal-oriented plans for all stages of research on new and existing products and processes • Identify customers’ requirement (technical / products problems, execution issues) and bring effective solutions • Improve manufacturing processes by performing comprehensive evaluation of processes, materials and equipment and identifying areas and methods of improvement • Ensure consistent high quality of product by regularly inspecting and monitoring production processes to determine optimal order and method of operations • Test components of new processes in laboratory setting, and design pilot projects for next step of small-scale testing; supervise initial processes and make necessary adjustments • Provide direction to laboratory technicians and other personnel in conducting research and testing, placing and adjusting equipment and implementing process changes • Stay current with applicable laws and regulations to ensure continuous compliance; develop safety and operational protocols for manufacturing processes • Support internal and external customers, and suppliers as required • Prepare invention disclosures to protect technology that gives the business a competitive advantage, as well as protecting the intellectual property rights of the company

• Able to work across several departments within the company, to anticipate and provide expertise in all manner of data and reporting capability. • Strong technical and functional skills. Anticipates and solves problems. Continuous Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering or Material Science plus 3+ years of experience in manufacturing industry • Problem analysis and resolution skills • Proficient use of computers including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) • Experience with enterprise systems (such as Oracle) a plus • Able to work in an autonomous environment and capable of prioritizing work to match area needs and company strategy • improvement driven • Strong initiative and eagerness to contribute and initiate programs that help achieve business and plant objectives • Places value on achieving high levels of trust and mutual respect with others • Interest in continued learning and keeping up with technological developments in area of expertise
