Manages plant production for the assigned shift(s) in accordance with company directives, policies, and procedures through production department supervisors. Responsible for efficient production within established manufacturing processes and quality standards. Accountable for championing continuous improvement activities.

1. Responsible for the direct supervision of production department supervisors with respect to safety, quality, productivity, cost, and meeting production schedules. 2. Monitors the operation to insure the effective use of equipment, facilities, and human resources. 3. Manages initiatives to keep the plant neat, clean, organized, and under control. Continuously inspects the plant to insure that safety equipment and devices are in place and being used properly. Maintains a constant alert for hazardous conditions and takes immediate corrective action when any are identified. 4. Prepares reports to communicate production activities and results. 5. Responsible for maintaining and training an adequate work force to provide capacity and capability to efficiently meet the production needs for on-time delivery of customer orders. 6. Responsible to apply resources to make continuous improvements to equipment, production methods, material handling procedures, plant layout, and cost structures. 7. Provides leadership for the direction of cost reduction activities. 8. Responsible for the proper and consistent application of employee relations policies, and compliance with company policies and procedures, work rules, and safety and health regulations. Recommends and administers approved disciplinary measures for violations of work rules and regulations. 9. Responsible for the timely administration of job and wage procedures; including performance reviews, recommendations for job changes, hiring, salary adjustments, and job postings. 10. Responsible for the development of production department supervisors through coaching, counseling, and providing the opportunity to attend formal training classes. 11. Is responsible for quality and safety of own work and compliance of all company procedures and policies.

Required: High school education plus courses in administration and training as a manager. Approximately four years experience in a manufacturing setting which includes time spent in production management. Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business administration with an emphasis in production management and approximately eight years of practical experience in manufacturing operations and related production management positions.
