POSITION SUMMARY: Inspects product defects and conformance specifications by performing the following duties: ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: -Use of standard calipers, micrometers, threads gages, etc. -Use of hardness testing equipment -Use of JS-400 and other surface finish equipment -Use of microscopic or video equipment to detect visual defects (burrs, contamination, etc). -Filing and updating QIP folders based on disposition of material -Use of boards and folder racks to prioritize inspection based on production or customer needs -Conducting and reporting on audits of production or other operations activities per checklist and procedure (layered/process audits) -Conducting and reporting on audits of production or other materials per checklists and procedures (product/dock audits) -Documenting of non-conformance using the QSI Non-Conforming Material Module -Use of Comparator and S-T Optical Inspection Unit -Use of St. Mary’s Gage and Universal gage fixtures -Performing complete product measurements to be used in customer PPAP

Mathematical skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ration, and percent and draw and interpret bar graphs. Reasoning ability Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems, involving several concrete variables, in standardized situations. Other skills and abilities Must have the ability to use precision mechanical inspection tools and gauges including CMM, laser micrometer, etc. Must be computer literate with a high degree of accuracy. Good writing skills required.
