Job Description

As a Manufacturing Engineer at MicroStrain you will work closely with Engineering and Production Team Members to ensure that MicroStrain is producing the highest quality, highest performance sensors and technology for some of the world’s most innovative autonomous systems. Your responsibilities will be sustaining and improving production processes and equipment. Prior experience in manufacturing, quality, or electro-mechanical design engineering is a must.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Hands on experience in manufacturing, final assembly, or running automated production and test equipment
  • Ability to assess optimal throughput, yield, and capacity constraints of multi-step production processes
  • Documentation control of work instructions and procedures, including change/revision management
  • Leadership and implementation of continuous process improvement and lean initiatives
  • Working knowledge of ERP and PLM systems and able to navigate bills of materials
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage time efficiently in a fast paced work environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn new tools and skills

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Prior experience working with electronic assemblies or sensor production
  • Fluency in LabVIEW and/or Python
  • Soldering and automated SMT assembly technology
  • Proficiency with electronics debug tools such as DMMs and Oscilloscopes
  • Transitioning new product design from engineering to scaled production

Work Experience

  • 6-8 years working within a manufacturing facility as Engineer or Technical Resource

Education

  • BS in Electrical, Computer, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent discipline from an accredited university
