The Machinist will support machining operations of division’s Value Streams. Maintaining and developing machining processes. The Machinist A can operate several of the following types of equipment and may instruct other machinist on the use of the equipment: grinders, milling machines, lathes, CNC, and manuals. The Machinist A performs set-ups, diameter, and depth off set adjustments. Lead continuous improvement activities in cycle time reduction, increased tool life and improve part quality.

•Set up and operate all machines related to work area, change fixtures and tooling for new and existing products •Understand and operate all inspection equipment •Determine sequence of operations to make CNC programs •Prepare machine for production by setting up tooling and work holding fixtures. Prepare all set ups, and upload and download programs through DNC system •Maintains specifications by observing operations, detecting malfunctions, inspecting parts, and adjusting controls while maintaining tight tolerance objectives •Ability to operate CMM and all hand inspection equipment •Operate using SPC where needed •Ensures operation of the equipment by following all Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) instructions •Completes production and quality logs •Maintain fluid levels on machines, including coolant, spindle, and hydraulic fluids •Maintain chip removal and area housekeeping with 5S and Safety Procedures. Maintain required safety practices for operation and notify Lead or Supervisor immediately of equipment problems •Perform and assist others as needed in machine repair •Performs other duties, including assignments to higher or lower classification jobs as assigned by management (coolant tanks, etc.)

Required: Associates Degree or Equivalent- 2 Year Technical College Program Relevant to Machining Plus. 3-5 years of relevant experience in Machining. 3-5 years previous machining experience preferred or equivalent skills in a manufacturing plant. Strong mechanical aptitude. Must have desire to learn, show initiative and able to operate walking forklifts. Experience with CAD (preferred) Employee must regularly lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Employee is regularly required to use hands to handle or feel objects tools and controls. The employee is required to walk, stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Must be able to stand for 12 hours per day. Exposure to manufacturing environment, including exposure to oils and cleaners, loud noises requiring hearing protection, occasional exposure to moving parts, equipment, and coolants. Eye protection required in all plant work areas and safety shoes required with steel toe and must be slip resistant.
