Position Summary Provide leadership to the Motion System Group and Divisions on new manufacturing technologies that create a competitive advantage in the marketplace. Leads the creation of and ensures execution of the strategy to advance manufacturing in the current organization that aligns with the WIN Strategy and Parker’s Factory of the Future Initiative. Partners with Division, Group and Corporate resources to research new technologies and ensure alignment and achieve the future state of manufacturing. Partner with external subject matter experts and resources that can assist with advancing our knowledge and implementation of our future state vision. Sponsor Manufacturing Engineering Leadership Development Program and ensure the curriculum and projects align to high priority business improvement projects while developing the associates in the program. Accountable for ensuring maximum cost effectiveness and the reliability of manufacturing process and workflow. Measures and reports progress on an on-going basis, validating improvements in the P&L, Cash Flow Statement and Win Scorecard measurements. Determines best practice methods and sequences of manufacturing operations. Ensures products and processes meet customer quality requirements by providing input and manufacturing plans for product design or modification. Supports the Win Strategy environment. Scope/Supervision and Interaction: __X__ Has Direct Reports _____ Does Not Have Direct Reports This position supervises Regional Designated Manufacturing Engineering Managers and has dotted line relationships with Plant Manufacturing Engineering Managers. Works closely and effectively in matrix environment with other corporate and group staff members and division team members.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the Motion Systems Group world-wide factory automation strategy and execution
  • Develop and maintain the Motion Systems Group automation roadmap
  • Lead Capital planning efforts+
  • Provide oversight of top factory automation projects
  • Track and report on progress of automation projects
  • Drive and support factory and site acceptance trials, including installation, operational and process qualification activities
  • Provide leadership to a diverse technical team
  • Sponsor MELD program
  • Represent MSG on Corporate Strategy / Initiative teams (eg FOF)
  • Act as the conduit between group and corporate to ensure alignment and information sharing
  • Develop key relationships to advance in our journey: Network with industry experts, learning institutions and peers within PH
  • Ability to work successfully in matrix environment
  • Optimize process capability and flow, cost and operator safety and ergonomics

    Qualifications
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline
  • Minimum of 8 years of related experience in the development and deployment of factory automation equipment.
  • Technical mastery in industrial automation and robotics. Experience with Fanuc, Yaskawa Motoman, and/or ABB robots preferred.
  • Experience in pneumatics, vacuum, servo, powertrain, conveyor design desired.
  • Proficient in Fanuc RoboGuide, Mitsubishi RT Toolbox, and other Simulation Software.
  • Knowledge of PLC communications and other robotic peripheral equipment.
  • Strong analytical skills and knowledge of structured problem solving techniques
  • Familiarity with Autocad and/or Solidworks design packages
  • Demonstrated experience managing suppliers of automated equipment solutions
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally (up to 35% of the time)
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional manufacturing teams.
  • Strong project management skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience leading an automation engineering team desired.
  • Experience evaluating sites and processes to create a future state manufacturing plan and a roadmap to achieving the future state
  • Passion for identifying future trends and learning new technologies and brining those back to the group
  • Demonstrated competence with using PFMEA to identify and ensure causes of defects are prevented.
  • Experience utilizing tools of lean manufacturing in partnership with manufacturing processes desired
